Privacy Policy

Effective September 13, 2026

Tuesday Game Night is a place to play party games with friends. This policy explains what we collect when you play or create an account, why we collect it, who else handles it, and how to delete it. If anything here is unclear, email privacy@tuesdaygamenight.com.

The short version

  • You can play without an account. As a guest, we store the name and color you pick and your game results.
  • If you create an account, we also store your email address, your handle, and either a scrambled (hashed) password or the sign-in details Google or Facebook gives us.
  • We don't sell your information, show ads, or use tracking or advertising cookies.
  • Chat messages in rooms are delivered live and never saved.
  • You can delete your data at any time on the Delete your data page.

What we collect

When you play as a guest

  • The display name and avatar color you choose. Use a nickname; there's no need for your real name.
  • A guest ID, kept in a sign-in cookie so you stay in your seat if you reconnect.
  • The rooms you host or join, and your results in finished games.

When you create an account

  • Your email address, handle, display name, and avatar color.
  • If you sign up with email: your password, stored only as a one-way hash we can't read.
  • If you sign in with Google or Facebook: your name, email address, profile photo link, and the sign-in tokens that provider issues for your account.
  • That you confirmed you're 13 or older, and when. We ask for your birth month and year to check this, and we don't store them.
  • Your token balance and token activity, such as the 100 tokens every new account receives.

When a game finishes

We save a record of the game: which game it was, when it was played, each player's display name, scores and placements, and the moves made during the game, such as answers, votes, drawings, and typed guesses. The record lets us show your game history and check results.

When you use the site

When you sign in, we store your IP address and browser type with your session to keep it secure. Our hosting providers also keep standard request logs, such as IP address, time, and page requested, for security and reliability.

What we don't collect

  • Your birth date.
  • The contents of chat messages.
  • Your precise location, contacts, or payment card numbers.
  • Anything from inside a game's screen. Games run in a sealed-off frame with no internet access, cookies, or storage, so they can't track you.

How we use it

  • To run rooms and games, and to show players' names and results to the people they play with.
  • To show your game history and token balance.
  • To keep accounts secure, prevent abuse, and enforce the 13+ rule for accounts.
  • To send account emails, such as email verification and password resets.
  • To find and fix problems.

We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.

Who else handles it

We use service providers that process information on our behalf, only to run the site:

  • Vercel, which hosts the website.
  • Cloudflare, which runs game rooms and serves game files.
  • Our database provider, which stores accounts and game records.
  • An email delivery service, when we send account emails.
  • Google or Facebook, only if you choose to sign in with them. Their own privacy policies cover what they do with the fact that you signed in.

We may also share information when the law requires it, or to protect players from harm. If Tuesday Game Night is ever merged or sold, your information would stay covered by this policy.

Cookies

We use only the cookies the site needs to work:

  • A sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in, as a guest or with an account.
  • A short-lived cookie (tgn_signup_hold, 24 hours) set when an age check doesn't pass, which stops an account from being created during that time.

We don't use analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking cookies.

Children

You must be 13 or older to create an account. Guests aren't asked their age, and should use a nickname rather than their real name. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or shared personal information with us, email privacy@tuesdaygamenight.com and we'll delete it.

How long we keep it

  • Account and guest information stays until you delete it. We may also remove inactive guest data.
  • Sign-in sessions expire on their own, and expired sessions are removed.
  • Game records stay, because they're part of other players' history too. When you delete your data, your name in those records is replaced with “Deleted player” and the records are no longer linked to you.
  • Deleted information can remain in backups for a limited time until those backups expire.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, including the EU, the UK, and California, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or move your information, to object to how we use it, and to complain to a data protection authority. We'll respond to requests within 30 days and won't treat you differently for making one.

Security

We use encrypted connections, store passwords only as hashes, run game code in a sandbox, and require authentication between our own services. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise that information will never be exposed, but we'll tell affected players if it is.

Where information is processed

Our service providers operate in the United States and other countries, so your information may be processed outside the country where you live.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. For significant changes, we'll also let signed-in players know on the site before the change takes effect.
